Michelle Hedges Makes National Debut at 2012 US Junior Nationals

Michelle Hedges skated in her first national competition December 10 – 14, 2011,  at the US Junior National Figure Skating Championships, which were held in Michigan.  Skating a remarkable long program in the initial round, she qualified for the final round with a score of 53.18, her highest score of the competition season.  In the championship round, Michelle scored 28.33 for her short program, placing her in 14th, and 49.30 for 16th place in her long program, with an overall score of 77.63.

Out of 42 Intermediate ladies competing at Junior Nationals, Michelle placed 15th overall in the United States as an Intermediate.  Congratulations Michelle, we are so proud of you!

New Spring Contracts

The spring contracts for a’Xel off ice training and the ice contracts for the FSC of Bloomington have been updated and are available here in the column to the right.  All contracts are due on Monday, January 30th and the new contract period begins on Monday, February 6th, 2012.

Minnesota Visually Impaired Figure Skaters Event

In celebration of National Skating month, the TCFSA & BIG, together with Minnesota NAPVI and the US Association of Blind Atheletes, held a Family Skate Day for Minnesota families dealing with visual impairments.  The event took place on MLK day, Monday, January 16th at the Bloomington Ice Garden from 9:30-11:00 am.  Twin Cities coaches and figure skaters volunteered to assist at the event, including several of our own skaters.  The event was a big success and much fun was had by all.
